Christmas in the Adobes

December 6 & 8, 2007 (Friday, December 7 - City of Monterey Tree Lighting Event)

This community-wide event features 20 of Monterey’s historic adobes lit by candlelight and luminarias, and a variety of musical entertainment, refreshments, and decorations to get everyone in the holiday spirit. This is the only time of the year that many of these nineteenth century buildings are open to the public and open in the evening. Most of the historic buildings are in close proximity to each other so that visitors are able to walk, using a self-guided brochure, to any or all of the historic houses. Once inside the house or building, staff and docents (many in period clothing) will tell about its history. Christmas in the Adobes is sponsored by California State Parks in association with Old Monterey Preservation Society. Costume Fitting (15minute increments – please call Shannon 372-3012 if you have not scheduled your fitting. You will receive your ticket and some information on the Larkin house at your scheduled fitting time.)

10am Saturday December 1, 2007

Here is an opportunity to get into the holiday spirt. 

December 1st at 10am there will be a wreath and garland making get togetherat the Cooper/Molera Barn. The wreath and garland will be use for the Larkin House during the Christmas in the Adobes.  If you volunteer, you are able to make some decoration for yourself when you are finished.  

If you like to decorate please help us Decorate the Larkin house on Dec 4th from 6-9.  This is a great time to practice those decorating skill and get new idea for your own decorations.

Please contact Shannon at 373-3012,  She stills need about 5 more volunteers for Dec 1st and 6 more for the night of the 4th for the decorating from 6-9. Wreath making will be at the Cooper/Molera Barn (directly across from the parking lot
construction of the new Trader Joe's dowtown) and the decorating will be at the Larkin house.

The Christmas in the Adobes portion aided by the OSSC will be held at the Larkin house. Each volunteer will receive one ticket for the Christmas in the Adobes on the night of their choice.
