Our community thrift shop is managed by the NPS Foundation, a nonprofit, tax-exempt organization which solicits, receives, and administers charitable contributions in support of the Naval Postgraduate School. The Foundation uses these contributions to promote excellence in academic accomplishment and research; to enhance the academic and support facilities of the School; to promote the recruitment, retention, and recognition of high-quality faculty; and to undertake other projects as deemed appropriate by the Superintendent to enhance the operational effectiveness of the school.

While the OSSC does not operate the shop or benefit directly from its proceeds, we encourage our members to donate, shop and volunteer in support of our greater NPS community.

Shopping is open to the following people:

· Active Duty Military Personnel

· Retired Military Personnel

· International Students at NPS

· All Family Members and Survivors of the above list who are in possession of a valid military ID Card.

· Reservists on Active Duty (Verification of eligibility procedures are the same as those used by the local exchanges.)

Donations are accepted during all store hours. Items are not accepted on consignment.

Items the Thrift Shop WILL NOT accept include:

· Used undergarments or bathing suits

· Used Breast Pumps

· Used Nylons/Pantyhose

· Open Cosmetics

· Used Mattresses

· Religious Articles (Any received will be given to the NPS Chaplain's Office.)

· Commercial Chemicals

· Medical Items

· Medications

· Food

· Books, games, or other items deemed "risqué" by the Thrift Shop Chairman
